Noticed some interesting locations for the lock ring. Original green with shock collar, NOS later one and finally the new yellow one with snap ring. The original one APPEARS to be a lot higher than the later versions. The NOS shock appear to be MUCH lower. I used the 200mm spacing from the NOS shock to set the yellow ones up.

I have not seen the one with the collar before; are there part #'s on it?
The location of the perch does change with the length of the spring since one cannot have the spring loose on the perch. The length of the springs seems to vary a lot depending on manufacturer and spring rating. I plan to use a sleeve to adjust the perch location. Do the body lengths vary? Center of pin to top of body? |

The original one with the high mounted collar reminds me of the hydraulic Koni's I had on my car, which needed an 8" spring to not make the car look too high in the back - the perch collar was also high mounted like that.

I just remembered about early springs in one of the books I read. Weren't the early springs only about 60 pounds? Seems like in 1973 they changed it all up with the 1,2,3 dot system?
